Valentine's wine tasting

Duetto
Duetto: Verdetto for two on one sheet, the columns facing each other.

Make the sheets View: A4 · Letter

Valentine's runs on Duetto, the sheet for two: one landscape page laid on the table between you, with the glasses' rings down the middle and your two columns facing each other across them. Each of you fills your own side for every glass: My score as five small rings, a word, a guess when the bottles are hidden, and notes. At the foot are two lines to fill together, We agreed on and We fought over, which make the sheet worth keeping. It prints in the Pencil look: titles in a handwriting face, a dusty rose accent, rings drawn by hand and a small pencil glass by the title, with a double hand-drawn rule framing the page. Write your names and the date, and the page becomes a small keepsake of the evening. It is made for two people and three to six wines.

If one of you wants to surprise the other, bag the bottles, keep the host sheet and pour blind, then turn the reveal cards at the end. Otherwise taste open and let the labels be part of the talk. Pour a small taste for each of you, taste in silence, fill your own column without peeking, then say "Duetto" and read your columns to each other glass by glass. Print one Duetto sheet, and the host sheet and tags if you play blind. Two glasses each makes comparing easier. About an hour is right, before or after dinner. Half bottles keep it a tasting for two rather than a lot of open wine, and a jug of water on the table means you can taste, spit and still enjoy the rest of the evening.

Questions

How do you do a wine tasting for two on Valentine's Day?

Choose three or four wines, half bottles if you can, and taste them blind or open. Each of you scores and describes every glass without peeking, then you compare columns and find out where your tastes meet.

What wines suit a Valentine's tasting?

Something sparkling to start, a rosé, a Pinot Noir and a sweet wine with dessert is a classic line of four. Or taste the wines from the place you met or went on your first holiday.
